UNITED NATIONS, May 4 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Susan D. Page of the United States his special adviser on rule of law, his press office said Friday.
Page will support the implementation of recommendations from the review of the Global Focal Point on the rule of law in post-conflict and other crisis situations.
Established in 2012, the Global Focal Point arrangement for police, justice and corrections areas ensures a coordinated UN response to country-level requests for support in the rule of law sector.
Page has previously served as the secretary-general's special representative in Haiti, and as deputy special representative for rule of law in the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti.
She has also had a distinguished career in the State Department of the United States. She was the first U.S. ambassador to South Sudan, after which she served as acting ambassador to the African Union and UN Economic Commission for Africa. Enditem
