1st LD-Writethru: Suicide bombings hit NE Nigeria

Xinhua,May 04, 2018 Adjust font size:

ABUJA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Four bombers blew up themselves in suicide attacks targeting a village near Nigeria's Maiduguri city late Thursday, a rescue official said on Friday.

No other casualties were recorded, except the suicide bombers who targeted the village in the northern state of Borno, according to Bashir Garga, a zonal coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency in Nigeria's northeast.

The suicide bombers struck at a time when most of the residents were indoors, Garga said.

The official said there were fears that terror group Boko Haram fighters had infiltrated Maiduguri city and are going into some villages on the outskirts of the city.

Last month, nine civilians and two police officers were killed when Boko Haram fighters attacked Jiddari Polo, an area in Maiduguri. Enditem
