BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday despite better-than-expected economic data.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.32 percent to end at 3,091.03 points, and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.31 percent lower at 10,426.19 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower Friday. The market remained under pressure, with the Sensex falling over 150 points on correction in index heavyweights Infosys, ITC, Reliance Industries and HDFC.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 34,915.38, 187.76 point or 0.53 percent down compared to its previous close at 35,103.14.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Friday.
