Singaporean stocks close 0.85 pct lower

SINGAPORE, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went down 0.85 percent or 30.3 points to close at 3,545.38.

A total of 2.09 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.2 billion Singaporean dollars (about 902.56 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 258 to 158.

The STI index closed down 1.1 percent or 39.6 points to stand at 3,575.68 on Thursday. Enditem
