TUNIS, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Two main suspects involved in the assassination of Tunisian engineer Mohamed Zouari, are confirmed as Bosnian nationality, announced Sofien Seliti, spokesperson of Judicial Pole against terrorism, on Wednesday.
Zouari was assassinated in December 2016 in Sfax in east Tunisia and the two suspects are identified by Tunisian authorities, Seliti said, adding that Bosnia refused to hand over the main suspects, arrested in Croatia on March 13, 2018.
"After identifying the two main suspects in the assassination, Tunisian authorities issued seven international judicial requests to Bosnia, Egypt, Belgium, Lebanon, Sweden, Turkey and Cuba," Seliti said at a press conference.
"From October 2015 to the end of March 2018, in Tunisia, no less than 4,375 trials have been filed in connection with terrorism with the arrest of 6,590 suspects, 66 of whom remain in police custody for investigation," he added. Enditem
