Canadian stock market down little

TORONTO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index edged down little Thursday as gains in material and financial stocks were offset by losses in energy shares.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index moved down 6.46 point to close the day at 15,621.47.

The Canadian dollar regained 0.14 cents to 0.77.8 U.S. dollar.

The energy group was the biggest loser. Canadian Natural Resources Ltd fell 2.3 percent to 45.43 Canadian dollars.

Crescent Point Energy Corp plunged 8.5 percent to 10.32 Canadian dollars.

Baytex Energy Corp. declined 1.03 percent, to 5.74 Canadian dollars.

Telecommunications company BCE Inc's first-quarter profit narrowly missed analysts' estimates. BCE declined 1.3 percent to 53.20 Canadian dollars.

Constellation Software rose nearly one percent to 939.40 Canadian dollars.

Neovasc Inc. jumped 8.33 percent, to 0.5.5 Canadian dollars.

Manulife Financial Corp. rose 1.36 percent to 23.77 Canadian dollars. Enditem
