Interpol chief hails Algeria's contribution to African stability

ALGIERS, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Algeria has "greatly contributed" to the stability of African continent, said Meng Hongwei, the president of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) and vice minister of public security of China, on Thursday in Algiers.

He made the remarks to media after his meeting with Algerian Interior Minister Noureddine Bedoui.

Meng hailed the work done by Algerian Interior Ministry on fighting against various kinds of crimes at national and regional levels.

The official said he had "fruitful and in-depth exchange" with Bedoui on several topics, including security situation in the region and the world.

He stressed that Interpol "must strengthen its cooperation with the government of each country to face all security challenges," adding that "this new form of cooperation is crucial to ensure security and stability in the world." Enditem
