Xinhua,May 03, 2018 Adjust font size:

MOSCOW, May 3 (Xinhua) -- A police officer was injured in a shooting at a bank in Armenia on Thursday, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency cited a local police source as saying.

According to RIA reports, police were fired at during the incident, but details of the location and name of the bank were not given.

The shooting took place as the country is struggling with massive acts of civil disobedience and strikes following weeks of protests against the country's ex-prime minister.

On April 23, then prime minister of Armenia and leader of the ruling Republican Party, Serzh Sargsyan, stepped down amid mass protests led by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan.

A new vote for a PM candidate will be organized by the Armenia parliament on May 8. Enditem
