S.Korean president to wrestle with documents on 1st anniversary of inauguration: Blue House

SEOUL, May 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in will wrestle with documents on the enforcement of the Panmunjom Declaration, signed after last week's inter-Korean summit, on May 10 that marks the first anniversary of his inauguration, the presidential Blue House said Thursday.

Yoon Young-chan, senior presidential press secretary, told a press briefing that Moon will wrestle with a mountain of documents as usual on the first anniversary of his inauguration, without any special press conference.

He said the Blue House was simply and plainly preparing for the anniversary as situations on the Korean Peninsula are changing at a dizzyingly rapid pace ahead of the summit between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Moon and top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un met on the South Korean side of the border village of Panmunjom last Friday, signing and announcing the Panmunjom Declaration in which the two leaders agreed to complete denuclearization of the peninsula and the change of the current armistice agreement into a peace treaty by the end of this year.

Kim is forecast to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in May or early June to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The Blue House unveiled a press release on state affairs management by President Moon for the past year, in which it said peace will stand firm through the upcoming DPRK-U.S. summit, and the fourth inter-Korean summit this fall will be an opportunity to confirm a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.

Moon and Kim agreed to meet again this fall in Pyongyang. Enditem
