SYDNEY -- A widespread crackdown on major crime syndicates in Australia's Victoria state has netted drugs worth about 10 million Australian dollars (7.5 million U.S. dollars) as well as guns, stolen property and cash, police said on Thursday.
More than 30 search warrants were issued in the three-month operation covering the north of state capital Melbourne, with at least six men and a woman arrested and charged with drug and firearm offences, state police said in a media statement. (Australia-Drugs)

HONG KONG -- Chinese tech giant Xiaomi on Thursday officially submitted its IPO application to Hong Kong Exchange with its dual-class shareholding structure.

VIENTIANE -- Lao economists have called on the government to pay more attention to preparations for the country's expected graduation from the least developed country (LDC) status, to ensure sustainable development.
If Laos leaves the LDC grouping as anticipated, possibly in 2024, it will result in a reduction of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and assistance under the Generalized Scheme of Preference (GSP) granted to exporters by many developed nations, local daily Vientiane Times reported on Thursday.
