TRIPOLI -- The Islamic State (IS) militant group on Wednesday carried out a deadly suicide attack on the headquarters of Libya's Higher Commission of Elections, killing at least 14 and injuring more than 10 others.

After the attack, rising smoke columns could be seen from the building's upper floor. In the surrounding area, there was no traffic movement and all shops were closed. (Libya-IS-Suicide Attack)

PYONGYANG -- China hopes that the dialogue between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States will be smooth and achieve substantial progress, said visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi here Wednesday.

During the talks with DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, Wang said that China fully backs the DPRK's efforts to achieve the goal of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. (DPRK-China-Visit)

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. military plane on Wednesday crashed in southern state Georgia, killing all five people on board, according to the Georgia National Guards.

The incident, which involved a WC-130 Hercules airplane from the Air National Guard, took place just before noon local time near the city of Savannah, local firefighters said. The County deputy coroner previously said two people had died in the crash. (U.S.-Plane Crash)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday kept the interest rates unchanged, in line with market expectation, while expressing confidence that inflation is near its 2-percent target.

"The (Federal Open Market) Committee decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 1.5 to 1.75 percent," said the Fed in a statement after concluding a two-day policy meeting on Wednesday. (US-Interest Rates)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday met with his visiting Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe to discuss Iran's nuclear program and the bilateral trade ties.
