British stocks up 0.30 pct Wednesday

LONDON, May 2 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 22.84 points, or 0.30 percent at 7,543.20 points.

Evraz, the international mining group, soared 5.17 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Anglo American and Glencore rose by 3.17 percent and 3.16 percent, respectively.

Paddy Power Betfair, a large British bookmaking business, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.27 percent. J Sainsbury, the British supermarkets chain, dropped 3.02 percent. Direct Line Insurance Group, a British insurance company, dropped 2.79 percent. Enditem
