Ukrainian capital sees warmest April in 137 years

KIEV, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The Central Geophysical Observatory here said Wednesday that last month was the warmest April in the Ukrainian capital since 1881.

The average temperature in the city last month was 13.1 degrees Celsius, which is about 50 percent higher than the climatic norm for April.

On April 29, the temperature rose to 26.8 degrees Celsius, exceeding the climatic norm for July.

The unusually warm April in Kiev came after the coldest March since the start of the 21st century.

The Observatory has projected that the temperature in the city in May 2018 will be higher than normal. Enditem
