AMMAN, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Royal Jordanian Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Jordan, achieved a 468,000 Jordanian dinars (659,619 U.S. dollars) net profit before tax by the end of 2017, according to the head of the airlines Stefan Pichler on Wednesday.

The president said in a press conference that the airlines incurred 26.3 million dinars (37 million U.S. dollars) in losses in the first six months of 2017.

He said that in the second half of 2017, the company's performance started to show remarkable progress after it took effective measures to increase bookings, launched a series of sales promotion campaigns, and started implementing a 5-year turnaround plan which will affect different operational aspects and is based on clear pillars.

Pichler added that the positive results, due to enhanced commercial performance and the turnaround plan, began to show in the fourth quarter of 2017. Enditem
