26 heads of state to attend Asian Games opening ceremony

JAKARTA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- At least 26 heads of state will be present at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in August this year in Indonesia, the National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian disclosed here on Wednesday.

A total of 45 nations and regions will send their athletes and officials to Indonesia to take part in 40 events.

Over 36,000 police personnel and soldiers will be deployed at the event.

Previously, the police said that its personnel will also be involved in arranging the transportation of the athletes and officials from their dormitories to the venues.

A total of about 11,000 foreign athletes and officials will come to Indonesia to participate in the Asian Games.

Indonesia will send about 1,500 athletes and officials to the Games, targeting about 20 gold medals to rank 10th in the medal table of the Games . Enditem
