Sri Lankan meteorology department warns of heat conditions

COLOMBO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan Department of Meteorology on Wednesday warned people to be wary of heat conditions developing in the country.
In its weather forecast, the department said the heat level had increased in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces of Sri Lanka.
It advised people not to expose their bodies to the sun for long as it could result in heat cramps, dehydration, and heat stroke.
The department also asked people to drink a lot of water to avoid any harmful impact from heat conditions.
According to the department, the temperature level rose to 34.7 Celsius degrees in the district of Polonnaruwa in the north central province on Wednesday, and the capital Colombo also recorded a temperature of 30.6 Celsius degrees the same day. Enditem
