Singapore stocks close 0.04 pct higher

SINGAPORE, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend up 0.04 percent or 1.35 points to close at 3615.28.

A total of 2.23 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.8 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.35 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 259 to 192.

The STI index closed up 1.03 percent or 36.72 points to close at 3613.93 on Monday. Stocks trading in Singapore Exchange was suspended on Tuesday for the Labour Day. Enditem
