Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning on profit-taking

TOKYO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as a weak lead from the Dow Jones Industrial Average overnight and the Nikkei's recent gains prompted investors to take profits.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 71.57 points, or 0.32 percent, from Tuesday to 22,436.46.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 4.71 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,769.47.

Oil and coal product, mining and real estate-oriented issues led those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
