Mongolia launches literacy festival across country

ULAN BATOR, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia has launched national literacy festival under the theme of "National Script-Independence" across the country, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports said Tuesday.

The four-day festival is co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, Department of Culture and Arts, National Library, National Council on Language Policy and National University.

The annual event will witness a series of seminars, cultural exhibitions and meetings to display and promote the literary history of the landlocked Asian country.

Also, competitions relating to traditional literature, language and calligraphy will be held nationwide.

Mongolia began holding the festival annually since 2003. Enditem
