Tokyo stocks open marginally lower on Dow's overnight retreat

TOKYO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Wednesday as investor sentiment was dented by the Dow Jones Industrial Average's overnight decline.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 27.77 points, or 0.12 percent, from Tuesday to 22,480.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.22 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,769.96.

Pharmaceutical and oil and coal product stocks comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
