PHNOM PENH, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday welcomed the historic summit between the top leaders of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea, saying that it was a move towards a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The DPRK top leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met in the truce village of Panmunjom on Friday last week, and issued a joint declaration pledging to end the Korean War and reaffirming their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

"This is the best story for the world in a half century that the two fraternal Koreas had met and issued a joint declaration," Hun Sen said in a speech during a university graduation ceremony here.

"This is a historic turning point in the Asian region," he said. Enditem
