BERLIN -- Leaders of Germany, France and Britain have agreed that the United States should not take trade measures against the EU and that the EU should be prepared to defend its interests.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron made a phone call on Saturday and Merkel called British Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday, in a bid to inform Merkel's and Macron's respective meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington this week, German federal government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said Sunday. MADRID -- The Spanish Civil Guard on Saturday confirmed that they have arrested 66 people from four different gangs in an anti-drugs operation on the island of Mallorca.

The three-month operation, Ludar, saw the Civil Guard carry out 72 searches on the island, with 58 in the capital of Palma.

Those searches led to the discovery of 13 marijuana plantations, two kilos of cocaine hidden in a basement, as well as other illegal substances, firearms and around 150,000 euros in cash, along with watches and jewelry. (Spain-Illegal Drugs)

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- At least six people, including a child, were injured in a bomb attack near a voter registration center in Jalalabad, capital of eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar on Sunday, a provincial government spokesman said.

"Six civilians were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a rickshaw went off at around midday near a mosque in Police District 4 of the city," Attaullah Khogyani told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Blast)

SEOUL -- Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has said his country will openly close its main nuclear test site in May, the Blue House of South Korea said Sunday.

Yoon Young-chan, senior press secretary for South Korean President Moon Jae-in, told a press briefing that during the April 27 summit, Kim told Moon that he will shutdown the nuclear test site, which will be transparently made open to the international society. (SKorea-DPRK-Nuke)
