HANOI, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The consumer price index (CPI) of Vietnam rose 2.8 percent on-year in the first four months of 2018, the country's General Statistics Office announced on Sunday.
In April alone, the index increased 1.05 percent against December 2017, and climbed up 2.75 percent against April 2017.
The higher CPI in April was mainly caused by higher prices of oil and petrol products as well as higher prices of construction materials and household electricity, local experts said.
In the four-month period, telecommunications charge was the only item which experienced a decline of 0.46 percent on-year.
In 2017, Vietnam's CPI rose 3.53 percent compared to 2016, far below the 4-percent target set by the country, said the office. Enditem
