Britain edges Hungary 3-2 in ice hockey

BUDAPEST, April 28 (Xinhua) —- Britain won 3-2 against Hungary on Saturday in the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A match in the Laszlo Papp Sportarena.

With this result, Britain became the tournament's winner and reached the top division along with second-placed Italy.

The Hungarian team got the lead through Christopher Bodo in the third minute. The second period was very tense but remained without goals. The Hungarian team made it 2-0 in the third period, thanks to Csanad Erdely.

The answer from Britain did not take too long, as Robert Dowd closed the gap to 1-2 in the middle of the last period.

In the 57th minute, it was the Hungarians who received a penalty shot, but missed.

In the very last minute, Robert Farmer equalized the score to 2-2. The score stayed the same in the overtime as well. The final score had to be determined with a penalty shot shootout which was won by Britain.

Earlier in the day, Kazakhstan beat Poland 6-1, Italy defeated Slovenia 4-3.

Britain won the tournament with 11 points and Italy had nine. Enditem
