Russia concerned over Gaza violence, calls for restraint

MOSCOW, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Moscow is deeply concerned about the recent deadly clashes between Palestinians and Israelis and the prospect of further aggravation of the situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
Moscow also expressed concern over the U.S. decision to hold a grand ceremony in Jerusalem next month marking the beginning of its embassy relocation from Tel Aviv.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he "may go" to Jerusalem to attend the ceremony.
At least three Palestinians were killed and 350 others wounded on Friday during clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip.
"We call on the parties involved to exercise restraint and abandon steps that provoke an escalation that risks developing into a full-scale force confrontation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
It said such a highly undesirable development will not only endanger the lives of Palestinians and Israeli citizens but also dampen efforts to create conditions for Palestinian-Israeli negotiations. Enditem
