Thailand welcomes Moon-Kim meeting

Xinhua,April 28, 2018 Adjust font size:

BANGKOK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said late on Friday that Thailand welcomes the meeting between Moon Jae-in, President of South Korea and Kim Jong un, Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In a statement published online, the ministry said the historic meeting reflects the continued concerted commitment and efforts by all parties, especially South Korea and the DPRK, to work towards a peaceful resolution of the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

It said Thailand hopes that the outcomes of this Summit and further efforts, particularly the planned meeting between the President of the United States and the Leader of the DPRK in the near future, will pave the way for the eventual realization of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, thereby helping to greatly enhance peace, stability and an atmosphere of cooperation in the region, for the benefits of the Korean peoples and the region as a whole.

Thailand said it stands ready to contribute towards these shared goals. Enditem
