NAIROBI, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday praised increased trade and stronger bilateral relationships Kenya has with China.

Kenyatta thanked Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa for the personal role he has played in strengthening the relationship between Kenya and China.

"I am committed to ensuring that Kenya and China continue strengthening their partnership for the benefit of both our peoples," he said when he bade farewell to Liu in Nairobi, according to a statement issued from Kenyatta's office.

Kenyatta said the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which stands out as the largest single infrastructure project in the region, was started and completed during the tenure of Liu in Nairobi.

He said the Chinese envoy has also played a leading role in the elevation of the bilateral relations between Kenya and China to the level of strategic cooperation. Enditem
