BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.23 percent to close at 3,082.23 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.31 percent higher at 10,324.47 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 10.04 points, or 0.17 percent, to a level of 5,919.23 on Friday.
Some 383,012 transactions were booked, involving 8.2 billion copies of share with a value of 8.9 trillion rupiah (about 641 million U.S. dollars).
Gainers led losers 202 to 191 with 101 remaining stagnant.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Friday.
The benchmark indices continued to trade strong as Reliance Industries, ITC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys and ICICI Bank are the positive contributors to the Sensex.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 34,969.70, 256.10 point or 0.74 percent up compared to its previous close at 34,713.60.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight and on hopes the inter-Korean summit would lead to further productive talks.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 148.26 points, or 0.66 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,467.87, marking its highest closing level since Feb. 5.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 1,050.26 points on Friday, up 5.4 points, or 0.52 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 191.597 million shares worth 5.905 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (262.02 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 188 stocks went up, 98 stocks fell down, while 46 stocks remained unchanged.
