French shares gain 0.74 pct on Thursday

PARIS, April 26 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.74 percent, or 40.28 points, to close at 5,453.58 points.

34 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French aeronautic giant Safran advanced 4.66 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. French retail giant Carrefour rose 1.56 percent,followed by French water and waste group Veolia Environment which gained 2.16 percent.

French multinational mirror manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain went down by 1.76 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. European IT services corporation Atos lost 0.94 percent. French multinational car manufacturer Renault edged down 1.22 percent. Enditem
