British stocks down 0.62 pct Wednesday

LONDON, April 25 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 46.08 points or 0.62 percent at 7,379.32 points.

Sky, the Europe's leading broadcasting and entertainment company, soared 3.90 percent, being the top gainer of the blue chips. Imperial Brands and British American Tobacco rose by 3.50 percent and 2.83 percent, respectively.

Ashtead Group, a British industrial equipment rental company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.96 percent. Anglo American, the international mining group, dropped 4.15 percent. Croda International, a British speciality chemicals company, dropped 3.92 percent. Enditem
