Qatargas delivers first cargo under LNG SPA with Petrobangla

Xinhua,April 27, 2018 Adjust font size:

DOHA, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) said on Thursday that it delivered its first liquified natural gas (LNG) cargo to Bangladesh's utility, Petrobangla.

The LNG shipment marked the start of supplies under a deal and long-term Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) Qatar gas signed with the government-owned national oil company of Bangladesh, Petrobangla last year.

According to the statement, the 138,000 cubic meters commissioning cargo was loaded at Ras Laffan aboard the Excelerate Excellence before being delivered near Moheshkhali Island in Bangladesh.

Following the delivery, Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, president and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, and chairman of Qatargas Board of Directors said that the delivery of the first cargo to Petrobangla highlighted Qatar's leadership in bringing clean LNG to new markets and new customers.

The inaugural delivery of LNG to Petrobangla would mark the first long-term agreement to be delivered through ship-to-ship transfer in open water between the two countries.

Last September, Qatargas signed a SPA with Petrobangla for the supply of up to 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum for a period of 15 years. Enditem
