Bangladesh's ruling Awami League party welcomes informal meeting between Chinese and India leaders

DHAKA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ruling Awami League (AL) party has welcomed the informal meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be held on April 27-28 in China's Wuhan.

"We welcome the meeting between the leaders," retired Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Faruk Khan, AL presidium member, told Xinhua over mobile phone on Thursday night.

Khan, also a former commerce minister, expressed the hope that the meeting will improve understanding of their (India and China) each other... which will benefit both of them and the region at large.

He said Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has always emphasized understanding, respect and cooperation among neighbors.

"In light of that we welcome this meeting and the meeting to be held between them in June during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in China." Enditem
