Arab League urges for drying up terror funding resources

CAIRO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) called Monday for drying up terrorist funding sources, stressing the importance of boosting security and judicial cooperation among Arab countries in face of terrorism, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.
The remarks were made by AL Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Legal Affairs Sector Fadal Jawad during the third meeting of a joint committee of experts and representatives of the Arab justice and interior ministers to discuss criminalizing the payment of ransom to terrorist organizations.
Jawad underlined the importance of promoting joint Arab action to encounter the serious danger constituted by financing terrorist organizations.
This issue enables terrorists to recruit and buy arms and equipment to develop their combat capabilities, Jawad noted during the meeting that was held in Cairo.
The Arab countries have under an unprecedented level of security threats from terrorism, armed militants as well as foreign interference in domestic affairs.
Terror-stricken courtiers, such as Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Libya, have made tangible achievements in fighting terrorism that has been a major challenge for years, mainly after the 2011 Arab Spring. Enditem
