TORONTO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A white van struck multiple pedestrians in Toronto's northern suburbs on Monday and police have taken the driver into custody, police said on Twitter.

Police initially said that "possible 8-10 pedestrians" were struck by the vehicle at a major intersection of the city, where the Group of Seven foreign ministers were gathering for a two-day meeting.

"Too early to confirm the number of pedestrians struck or their injuries," the Toronto police said in a tweet later. Enditem
