S. African medal winners at 2018 Commonwealth Games get cash reward

PRETORIA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The South African government and sports fraternity on Monday financially incentivized those who won medals at the recently concluded 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The athletes and their coaches were given their financial gifts at a parade held in Pretoria on Monday. A gold medalist took 4,167 U.S. dollars while his/her coach got 1,041 dollars.

South Africa got 13 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals in Gold Coast, Australia, one place higher than that at the last games in Glasgow, Scotland four years ago. Enditem
