German shares edge up Monday

FRANKFURT, April 23 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index up 31.89 points, or 0.25 percent, to close at 12,572.39 points.

Commerzbank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.84 percent. Reinsurance company Munich Re and tire specialist Continental rose by 1.79 percent and 1.32 percent respectively.

Renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 3.98 percent. Multinational chemical firm Linde and sportswear and equipment maker Adidas went down by 1.28 percent and 1.04 percent respectively.

German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 243.15 million euros (297.56 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
