Xinhua,April 23, 2018 Adjust font size:

JAKARTA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Despite the tough opponents they are set to face, the Indonesian softball team will aim to reach the final in the softball Asia Cup to be held here.

Leonardus Djarkasih, assistant coach of the Indonesian softball squad, said that the players have vowed to give their best in the regional sporting event.

"The competition is tough, however we still set our target at making the finals," Djarkasih said.

The softball Asia Cup kicked off on Monday and will end on Saturday at the Gelora Bung Karno sport stadium in Indonesia's capital, according to the organizing committee.

A total of nine teams feature in the event. Among them are the Philippines, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, the coach added.

He said that the participation of the Indonesian squad in the event would be a warm-up for the SEA Cup in Thailand, scheduled to be held at the end of July and the SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019. Enditem
