BAGHDAD -- Up to 36 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in airstrikes by Iraqi air force targeting IS positions inside neighboring Syria, the Iraqi military said on Sunday.

Acting on intelligence reports, the Iraqi F-16 fighter jets pounded the terrorist IS positions, including a meeting site for some IS leaders, leaving 36 terrorists dead, a statement by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) said. (Iraq-Syria-Islamic State)

DUBAI -- Qatar's air force on Sunday has "dangerously" approached a passenger plane of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) international carrier Emirates Airline, Dubai daily Gulf News reported.

The passenger jet was flying on a regular flight from Dubai to Manama when it was intercepted, which was the third incident of its kind in 2018, said the report. (UAE-Qatar-Aircraft)

TRIPOLI -- Libyan navy on Sunday recovered bodies of 11 migrants and rescued 83 others off the coast of the western city of Sabratha, according to navy spokesman.

"A coast guard patrol of two boats recovered bodies of 11 illegal immigrants and rescued 83 others, who were on a rubber boat about 5 miles off Sabratha coast," spokesman Ayob Qassem told Xinhua. (Libya-Migrants-Body)

CAIRO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian archaeologists have made two rare discoveries of a shrine of ancient god Osiris-Ptah-Neb in Luxor and head of a statue of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius in Aswan in southern Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities said in a statement on Sunday.

The shrine is located inside the temples of Karnak at the southern side of the 10th pylon of god Amun-Re Temple, in the area between temples of Amun and Mut eastern the Avenue of Sphinxes, said Ayman Ashmawy, head of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities Sector at the Ministry of Antiquities.
