Hanover Messe 2018 to take Industry 4.0 commitment to next level

HANOVER, Germany, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Hanover Messe 2018 is taking its Industry 4.0 commitment to the next level, the organizer announced ahead of the official start on Sunday evening in German city of Hanover.

"The integration of automation technology, IT platforms and machine learning will take Industry 4.0 to the next level," commented Jochen Koeckler, chairman of the managing board at Deutsche Messe.

"With 'Integrated Industry -- Connect & Collaborate' we highlight how connectivity in industry facilitates completely new forms of business, work and collaboration. The result: more competitiveness, better jobs and new business models," Koeckler said.

This year's Hanover Messe, the world's largest industrial exhibition, will mainly focus on five sectors, including Integrated Automation, Digital Factory, Energy, Industrial Supply and Research & Technology.

Besides Industry 4.0, other key words, like integrated energy, predictive maintainance, digital twin and cobots will also be important at the exhibition.

According to Koeckler, the core message this year will be that "the factory of the future is a factory that can think for itself and is human-centric."

"For humans, new technologies mean assistance, not competition. This year, Hanover Messe will be showcasing more assistance systems than ever before, including wearable exoskeletons that enable workers to lift and move heavy objects," Koeckler added.

More than 5,000 exhibitors from 75 different nations and regions will be presenting technologies for tomorrow's factories and energy systems from April 23 to 27.

Some 60 percent of these exhibitors will come from outside Germany. The top exhibiting nations after Germany are China, and Mexico, which is the official partner country.

The China International Investment Promotion Agency and Sino-German Industrial City Alliance will bring together German and Chinese experts, businesses and investors involved in the mechanical and plant engineering sector to discuss Industry 4.0 and "Made in China 2025". Enditem
