Timberwolves overcome Rockets in Game 3

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves blasted the Houston Rockets 121-105 on Saturday in the team's first playoff game at home in 14 years and pulled one game back in the two teams's first round playoffs series.

After losing two straight games in Houston, the Timberwolves were pushed to corners and Game 3 was a must-win clash. Minnesota were on fire throughout the game, scored 50 points in the paint and made 15 of 27 three-point attempts.

Minnesota was hitting on all cylinders and it was exactly the kind of game they needed to have if they were going to stand a chance against the league-best Rockets.

All-Star guard Jimmy Butler had four 3-pointers among his 28 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 points and 16 rebounds for the host team. Other starters were also on top form with Jeff Teague scoring 23 points and Andrew Wiggins claiming 20 points. Besides, Derrick Rose had 17 points off the bench.

James Harden had 29 points and Chris Paul claimed 17 points for the Rockets. The team went just 15 for 41 from 3-point range.

The Timberwolves will host Houston in Game 4 on Monday. Enditem
