Two detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of terrorist links

ST. PETERSBURG, April 20 (Xinhua) -- A criminal case was opened in Russia's St. Petersburg against two people from Central Asia, who planned to join the ranks of a terrorist organization.

The video of the suspects' detention was published by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation team, the suspects contacted a recruiter via instant messaging service Telegram and planned to take part in the activities of an international terrorist organization in a Middle East country.

On April 10, suspects purchased air tickets to leave Russia. However, they were detained and hence failed to to leave the country. Enditem
