Xinhua,April 20, 2018 Adjust font size:

TOKYO, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed mixed on Friday as investors both bought on the back of the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar and opted to take profits made ahead of the weekend.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 28.94 points, or 0.13 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,162.24.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 0.95 points, or 0.05 percent, to finish at 1,751.13.

Metal product and electric appliance issues comprised the day's notable decliners, while marine transportation and insurance issues led those that gained the most by the close of play. Enditem
