Manchester United beat Bournemouth in English Premier League

LONDON, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Chris Smalling scored his third goal in six league games for Manchester United and Romelu Lukaku added a second to give Jose Mourinho's men a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Manchester United, who suffered a shocked defeat to bottom side West Bromwich Albion, reinstated a four-point lead over third-placed Liverpool in the Premier League with four games remaining.

Mourinho made seven changes to his side which was shocked by bottom side West Bromwich on Sunday, with Smalling being the only defender to retain his starting place.

Smalling scored his third goal in six league games by meeting a low cross from Jesse Lingard and slotting into an empty net in the 28th minute. Second half substitute Lukaku then sealed the win in the 70th after running onto a through-ball from Paul Pogba and finishing with a first-time shot.

Mourinho said after the match, "This win was based on good attitude, professionalism and a determination to win an important match for us because now it's difficult to not finish in the top four." Enditem
