TOKYO -- Mount Kirishima on the southwestern Japanese main island of Kyushu erupted on Thursday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

According to the weather agency's preliminary information, the eruption at the 1,700 meters high group of volcanoes occurred at 3:43 p.m. local time, close to Mt. Io.

Mt. Kirishima is one of a number of volcanoes in the Ebino highlands region, which straddle both Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. (Japan-Volcano-Erupts)

ISLAMABAD -- At least four people including women and children were killed while 10 other passengers of a van sustained burn injuries as its liquefied petroleum gas cylinder exploded in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, local media reported on Thursday.

According to the reports, the passenger van was heading towards Sehwan Sharif city in the province from Tando Masti Khan town when it caught fire suddenly following a huge cylinder blast.

The incident happened on the national highway in Khairpur, a city in the southern Sindh province. (Pakistan-Blast)

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. passenger plane made an emergency landing Wednesday in Atlanta city after its engine began issuing smoke.

Delta Air Lines, the operator of the plane, confirmed the incident, saying the London-bound flight encountered "an issue with its No.2 engine" after taking off at 6 p.m. local time and returned to the ground soon after the takeoff. (US-Plane-Mishap)
