British stocks up 1.26 pct Wednesday

LONDON, April 18 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 91.29 points or 1.26 percent at 7,317.34 points.

Mediclinic International, an international private hospital group, soared 9.15 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Glencore and Anglo American rose by 7.65 percent and 6.15 percent, respectively.

British American Tobacco, a British multinational tobacco company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.67 percent. EasyJet, a British budget airline, dropped 2.07 percent. Hargreaves Lansdown, the British financial service company, dropped 1.40 percent. Enditem
