RABAT, April 18 (Xinhua) -- A total of 6.2 tons of cannabis was seized in a police raid in Morocco's northeastern city of Nador, the Moroccan police announced in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, 10 people were arrested in the raid that took place simultaneously in three locations in Nador and its suburbs.
The suspects were charged over working for an international drug trafficking network.
The police also seized knives as well as three Morocco-registered cars and three others registered overseas.
Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis farming in the past decade, Morocco remains the world's largest cannabis resin harvesting country, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Enditem
