ADDIS ABABA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

--Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, met with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, in New York on Tuesday.

--The Oromia regional state of Ethiopia has appointed officials to build implementation capacity and address problems of good governance in the regional state. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

--Ethiopia is expected to become the fastest growing African economy this year, taking the mantle from Ghana, which has held the position for most of the past decade, Bloomberg reported citing the International Monetary Fund.

Ethiopia's economy is projected to expand by 8.5 percent in 2018, followed by Ivory Coast at 7.4 percent and Ghana at 6.3 percent, the IMF said in its World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)
