Singapore stocks close 0.12 pct lower

SINGAPORE, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend down 0.12 percent or 4.11 points to close at 3497.19.

A total of 1.64 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 863.2 million Singapore dollars (about 657.23 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 275 to 139.

The STI index closed up 0.94 percent or 32.69 points to close at 3501.3 last Friday. Enditem
