SANAA -- Yemen's dominant Shiite Houthi rebels once again fired a ballistic missile toward Saudi Arabia on Friday, shortly after the group's leader vowed to develop his Iranian-backed missile arsenal.

"The forces of the aggression (Saudi-led coalition) are frustrated by our ballistic missile capabilities, and we will continue to develop it," Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said in a speech aired by his group-owned Al Masirah satellite TV channel. (Yemen-Ballistic Missile-Saudi Arabia)

ANKARA -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that he discussed possible steps for peace in Syria during phone talks with his U.S. and Russian counterparts.

Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers, Erdogan said he told the U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin that escalating regional tension is not right, and all sides should work together to build peace in Syria. (Turkey-U.S.-Russia)

RAMALLAH -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday condemned Israeli settlers for torching a mosque in the northern West Bank village of Aqraba.

"Burning the mosque is a crime. The serious crimes committed by the terrorist settlers are carried out under the eyes and protection of the Israeli occupying forces," Abbas said in a statement published by official Wafa News Agency. (Israel-Mosque Burning-Abbas) Enditem
