British stocks up 0.09 pct Friday

LONDON, April 13 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.09 percent, or 6.22 points, to close at 7,264.56 points.

Whitbread, a hotel and restaurant group, soared 3.31 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Micro Focus International and Mondi increased by 3.22 percent and 2.94 percent, respectively.

Sage Group,a software publishing company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 8.18 percent. easyJet, a low-cost passenger airline, dropped 3.01 percent. Shire, a global biotechnology group, fell 2.14 percent. Enditem
